Devon Doctors Ltd is one of the top 75 fastest growing companies in Devon and Cornwall, according to KPMG’s Fast Growth 75.
Devon Doctors, which provides the county’s out-of-hours GP service and NHS 111 helpline, was listed as the 62nd fastest growing business in Devon and Cornwall this year in the annual business chart by KPMG.
The ranking reflects a year of growth at Devon Doctors, which saw the social enterprise awarded with a five-year contract to deliver a new Integrated Urgent Care Service in Somerset. The service will integrate Somerset’s NHS 111 helpline with GPs, hospital trusts and community and mental health services to provide medical care out of hours to Somerset residents from February 2019.
Fast Growth 75 [FG75] is an annual list produced by professional services company KPMG to spotlight hard work, determination and sales growth in businesses in Devon and Cornwall.
The Chief Executive of Devon Doctors, Dr Justin Geddes, believes the company’s inclusion in FG75 2018 is down to its constant commitment to improvement.
“We are delighted to be among the fastest growing organisations in Devon and Cornwall. As a company we are continually looking to see how we can grow and improve the way we deliver care for patients,” said Dr Geddes.
“Securing the contract in Somerset demonstrated our capabilities, and strengthened our position, as a leading urgent care provider in the South West. Now we look forward to shaping the future of urgent care delivery in Devon and Somerset.”
Exeter MP Ben Bradshaw and House of Commons Health Committee member said: “I congratulate Devon Doctors on this latest success. It is great to see the local doctor-led social enterprise spreading its good practice more widely.”
Devon Doctors Ltd was first established in 1996 to provide support to GP cooperatives across Devon. In 2004 Devon Doctors was asked to provide GP out of hours cover for the whole of Devon. Since then the business has more than doubled in size, providing 24/7 access to urgent care services while ploughing its profits back into these services.
